Question: 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager

I have a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.3 liter V-6 engine with an automatic transmission. Here is my question. My van is getting hot but the gauge in the van does not read hot. It is dripping antifreeze from the bottom when it gets hot. Is something plugged and why doesn't my gauge tell me it is hot?
